Keep an Eye Out for These Ductless Problems

Ductless heating and air conditioning systems are extremely beneficial for many Potomac, MD residents. The installation of ductless split heating and air conditioning is less invasive and time consuming than that of traditional systems.

They are especially beneficial if you don’t already have ductwork installed. In addition, the lack of ducts makes it possible to install heating and air conditioning in areas of your home that may not have had access to them previously.

However, like any heating or cooling system, problems do happen every now and then. While routine maintenance could help fend small issues before they become larger problems, some repairs simply can’t be avoided, especially as your system ages. Watch out for the following ductless problems.

Compressor Issues

Your ductless system’s compressor is housed in an outdoor cabinet with the condenser and condenser fan. The compressor works by pressurizing refrigerant in your AC system. Therefore if the compressor isn’t working properly, you’ll notice that your system isn’t heating or cooling properly.

Refrigerant or Condensate Drain Issues

Inefficient or ineffective operation could be a sign that your refrigerant is low. This could be because the proper amount wasn’t added at the time of installation, or it could be because there’s a leak in the system. Condensate lines can be rather long as well, and are sometimes prone to developing clogging or leak issues.

Grinding Noises

A ductless system has many moving parts that must be lubricated well to reduce the friction on the motor while it’s running. Even if they are lubricated properly, the bearings wear down over time, requiring replacement. Without replacement, the motor will eventually overheat and burn itself out.

No matter what problems you run into with your ductless system, we can help! Our technicians are very familiar with these units and will work hard to get you back up and running as quickly as possible.
