When to Replace Your Heating System

Heating season is not far off now, and that means it’s time to make sure that your heating system is in good condition. If your heating system is on its last legs, now is the time to replace it. Better to have a new system in place now, before winter begins, than to have your heating system die on you in the middle of a cold month. Read on for more information about when to replace your heating system.

Bills Rising

Your heating bills are going to rise and fall as you use the system. The older a heater gets, though, the more worn out it will become. This will cause the efficiency of the system to drop, forcing the system to stay on for longer and longer periods of time in order to achieve the same results. Your monthly bills will start to rise over time as the system operates for longer. If your bills are rising for no apparent reason, you should consider installing a new system.

Repairs

All heating systems need repairs every once in a while, but those repairs should be few and far between. As a system nears the end of its life, it will start to become so worn out that various parts of it will start to fail in rapid succession. If you need to repair your heating system more than once a year, it’s a good sign that you should replace it with a new one as soon as possible.

Age

Heating systems are designed to last right around 10-15 years. Past that point, they tend to become far too costly and inefficient to keep operating. If your heating system is past 15 years of age, you should consider installing a new one.
